Playing off of the cloistered warmth and wood tones of the Fireside Room, artist Tamara Codor and designer Sterling Voss created a cool, airy retreat on the sixth floor. The pair—whose Codor Design firm creates furniture that fuses form and function into a beautiful whole—approach interior design with the same freedom and creativity as a work of art. They repurposed some of the room’s existing furniture and brought in a few of their own pieces to create a play of traditional and fantastical design. “To us,” Codor says, “hotel design is part sophistication, part fantasy.”
About the Designer Suites
Our roots are showing—and we don’t mind. As the oldest boutique hotel in Seattle, the Sorrento wears its history proudly. You can see it in the building’s stately construction and feel it in the elegant ambiance of every room. Part of our history is innovation, working with generations of Seattle’s best builders, designers and decorators. We continue that history today with our Designer Suites.
With our most recent renovation, we apportioned three guest suites to three Seattle designers, encouraging them to unleash their individual sense of style on the room’s blank canvas. Each comes from a different facet of the city’s burgeoning design community and brings a different set of skills and influences to the project—and we couldn’t be more excited by their work. These are the people establishing the new aesthetic of the Pacific Northwest. And as always, the Sorrento is at the center.
